What Connecticut Passed, and When It Takes Effect
Signed into law as Public Act 26-127. Governor signed it on June 4, 2026 and it takes effect October 1, 2026.
HB 5340 cleared the Connecticut General Assembly on May 6, 2026, when the Senate passed it as amended by House Amendment Schedule A and the House recorded the bill in concurrence the same day. The Energy and Technology Committee had voted 18-8 to advance the bill on March 19, the House passed it on May 1, and the Senate followed five days later. The bill was designated Public Act 26-127 on May 20, transmitted to the Governor on May 27, and signed into law on June 4, 2026. It takes effect October 1, 2026. HB 5340 is a broader renewable power generation bill that includes a section allowing the use of portable solar photovoltaic systems.

What to Check Before Buying in Connecticut
